Team New Era Suffers First Loss in National Tourney

Team New Era bats were silenced today and the usually excellent defense committed a runs expensive infield boot as New Era lost 4 to 0 to the EC Cards in Jupiter this afternoon.
Team New Era is 1 and 1 with 3 games to play.
Joel Crisler pitched pitched 7 1/3 and John Catanzaro finished the last 1 1/3 innings, however New Era was only able to produce 2 hits against the EC Cards pitcher, Kevin Lidle. Kevin is the twin brother of the former Yank, Cory Lidle. (Cory died in a plane crash in New York city after the 2006 season.)
Kevin Lidle played up into AAA with Indianapolis. He showed a high 80's fastball and circle change to keep New Era hitters off balance. It was the team's consensus that Lidle was the best pitcher they have faced in the last 2 years.
The rules of the tournament has the teams start with a round robin, with the two teams with the best record in their Division moving into the playoffs. New Era have lost games in the 2 championship years but have progressed to eventually win the championship.
New Era moves to Digital Domain Park, the NY Mets Spring Training facilities in St. Lucie West, for a double header tomorrow.
Manager Ralph Proulx named John Barberio to pitch in the morning game. Barberio won the championship games the last 2 years. In the afternoon game, Ed Urbanik has been picked to start.
