Team New Era Losses in Extra Innings in National Playoff

Great Lakes Red Sox were leading 3-0 going into the 8th inning against Team New Era in the quarter finals of the Men's Senior Baseball League Tournament in Florida. In the 8th, Team New Era scored 3 runs to tie up the ball game. Rick Foit got a single, Curt Hoffman bunted for a single, John Barberio got a hit, Joe Ferrando got hit by a pitch, scoring a run, and Jeremy Ross got another hit bringing in 2 more runs.
In the bottom of the 10th, Great Lakes got a double and a bloop single to score the gaming winning run and ending Team New Era's run for a third straight National title.
In the quarter's for Team New Era, Iron Arm Dennis Gawronski pitched 7 2/3 innings with John Catanzaro throwing 2 innings. Gawronski was in 3 of the 6 games, pitching a total of 18 2/3 innings in 5 days.
In the other quarter final, Missouri beat the Venezuela Nosotros. 
In the semis, EC Cards beat Great Lakes 4 to 0, and Atlanta Bulls beat Missouri 4 to 3. 
Team New Era Manager Ralph Proulx, said every team in this tournament was tough. There were no easy games down here this year. Pitching was good on every team.
Team New Era scored 12 runs to the opponents 16 runs in the 6 games. Team New Era had one of the biggest scoring games in the tournament, in the 5th game when they scored 5 runs. Take out the 5th game, Team New Era had 7 runs to the opponents 14 for the tourney
Manager Proulx said he and the team will be back next year, unless he gets one of the MLB manager's jobs.
(Manager Proulx also manages Team New Era 50+, that are made up of players from WNY and San Diego. They won the National title last week in Arizona.)
