Rochester Knighthawks Win

“No Limits Lacrosse” is back in Rochester. The Rochester Knighthawks played their second and final preseason game on December 17th, beating the Minnesota Swarm by a score of 19-15. Rochester had a great record against the Swarm last year, beating them in each game they played; once at home and once away. They face Minnesota twice this season as well, and if tonight was any indication, the Knighthawks will have another outstanding showing.
The Swarm took an early lead by scoring the first goal of the game, but after that, it was all Rochester. The next four goals went to the K-Hawks. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 6-3 in favor of the Rochester.
During the second quarter, the Swarm almost came back. They came within one goal of tying, but 6-5 at 3:33 into the second quarter was the closest the game would be for its remainder. The K-Hawks finished the half with a comfortable three point lead at 9-6.
The third quarter belonged to Rochester’s Cody Jamieson. The 24 year old forward scored three consecutive goals: once at the 5:49 mark, another at the 6:21 mark, and the third at the 7:05 mark. This put him at a total of five goals for the game. Jamieson, at the time of his signing with the Knighthawks in late 2010, had the longest contract in the NLL’s history. He was a first overall selection in the 2010 draft and he was inked for a ten year contract. It looks like Rochester is going to get their money’s worth out of this fantastic athlete.
The end of the fourth quarter saw some sloppy play by the Swarm with several loose balls near the goal. This was probably a result of their realization that the game was out of their reach. When the final buzzer rang, the score stood in favor of the Knighthawks by four goals.
The Minnesota Swarm’s Ryan Benesch had a great game, despite being on the losing end of things. He scored five goals for the Swarm. Benesch led his team last year with 95 points.
The Rochester Knighthawks begin their regular season at Philadelphia on January 14th. Their home opener is on January 21st against the Buffalo Bandits.
