Amerks face loss of stabilizing defenseman, Pardy

When the lockout ended, Adam Pardy helped the Amerks ease the pain of losing top defenseman T.J. Brennan and Joe Finley. During a five game winning streak, the 28 year-old veteran defenseman continually got the puck out and helped steady things in front of goalie David Leggio. The Sabres noticed and now he’s back in Buffalo.  This time there is no replacement,  but that’s life in the AHL.
On offense, Captain Kevin Porter and Mark Mancari make something happen every game. Singling out players that have stepped up seems unfair since it seems like everyone has stepped up. Coach Rolston and his staff deserve credit for that, too.
A few AHL teams added veteran free agent players to help ease the pain of losing NHL players after the ratification of the labor agreement but the Sabres and GM Darcy Regier typically leave the Amerks extremely young and they’re not the only team with a predominately development philosophy for their AHL team. The Amerks did add 34 year-old veteran forward Patrick Rissmiller, hardly the best free agent out there since he was getting ready to go to the ECHL, but he scored in his first game, a big win over Syracuse on the road.
