On July 13, 2013, Buffalo Bills Wide Receiver Kevin Elliot held his annual football camp for local youth at the Englewood Neighborhood Center in Orlando, Florida.  Kevin joined the Bills in December of the 2012 season, and is looking forward to the upcoming season. Kevin explained his involvement with the camp. “I remember as a kid I used to go to the Jeff Blake camp, and had a great time, so I figured, you know, why not give back to the kids and give them the same experience I had.” Kevin explained any child in the area can participate free of charge, and he’s hoping to “make it bigger year after year, it really started in this area and hopefully with spread throughout Orlando coming up soon.” This is Kevin’s 4th year with the football camp, and has been returning since attending Florida A&M University.

Kevin spoke of his mindset on being a Wide Receiver with the Buffalo Bills. “It’s a blessing, every day to be on that team is a blessing. I’m glad to be a Bill and can’t wait for the season to start. It’s basically just putting in the work and showing them I belong on this team. Every day you have to earn your spot and show and prove why you should be on this team. I’ve been training down south for this whole time and I feel I’m prepared for that.”

Joining Kevin Elliott to help with the clinic are Deonte Thompson (Baltimore Ravens WR) and former teammates from Florida A&M University including Miami Dolphins WR Brian Tyms.

Taryn Rutkovitz, The Regional Center Manager of the Englewood Neighborhood Center provided her thoughts on the annual event. “I feel excited, Kevin’s come back for the past 4 or 5 years, ever since he graduated from high school and he used to work here so he’s always come back and did a free clinic. It’s getting bigger and bigger every year, of course as he gets bigger in his career.  It gives the kids a sense of pride from their neighborhood, it’s something to look forward to, and it makes them feel special. Kevin’s definitely a great role model for them.”

The Bennett family watched their son Dinari participate in his first camp. “It’s a great camp, very organized, and kids having fun and enjoying themselves.” Denari is starting contact football this year, and his parents felt this football camp would be of assistance to his progress with the sport.

Kevin Elliott was pleased with the day’s activities. “It went well, it was a great turnout and I believe the kids had a great time. Think we got better today, and it always feels good to come out here and run around with the kids.” Orlando area kids are hoping for many more opportunities.
