 BUFFALO, N.Y. (October 19, 2012) --- The National Hockey League announced today the cancellation of the 2012-13 regular-season schedule through Nov. 1. A total of 135 regular-season games were scheduled for Oct. 11 through Nov. 1.
The cancellation of the schedule was necessary because of the absence of a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the NHL Players’ Association and the NHL.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Hockey announced today it will stage the first-ever All--American Prospects Game on Sept. 29, 2012, at First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York.
The All-American Prospects Game will include 40 of the top American-born prospects eligible for the 2013 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

It took me 35 years to fulfill a dream but the wait was certainly worth it.
 
On New Year’s Day 1977 while on vacation in Wales, I attended a practice for the Welsh national rugby team at the old Arms Park in Cardiff. Since then, I’ve been constantly reminded how exciting an actual Six Nations rugby game truly is.
 
And from what I’ve seen on TV - every time Wales took on England, Scotland, Ireland, France or Italy - I couldn’t agree more.

John Beilein is the coach of Univ. of Michigan. They are currently ranked 16th in the nation.
He was born in the Lockport area in 2/5/53. He has a long history of coaching basketball in WNY and around the country at top basketball colleges.
His coaching started at Newfane HS. He then went to ECC No., then on to Nazareth (Roch.). then to LeMoyne (Syracuse), to Canisius, Richmond, then W. Virginia now at Mich.

 LATHAM, NY – After approval by its Central Committee, the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) has announced the Girls Swimming and Diving State Championships will officially move to Ithaca College in November of 2012 and 2013.

The State Tournament will be conducted November 16-17 in 2012, then tentatively on November 22-23, 2013 in Ithaca, which lies in Section IV. The tentative 2013 dates are due to a possible scheduling conflict that Ithaca may have that weekend. Competition typically begins at 9 am on day one.

As the 2011 NFL playoffs conclude and we approach the Super Bowl we are once again reminded that it takes one key ingredient to win in this league. We are down to the final four in this single elimination tournament and each team left has one of the essentials when it comes to winning it all. Either an elite defense or an elite quarterback is necessary to make it this far.
