Is It the "Year Of The Quarterback"? - Blog

Posted by KyleSoppe on December 9, 2011 - 8:37am

We’ve been hearing that 2011-2012 is the “year of the quarterback” from various sport shows and analysts. We’ve seen ESPN specials based around this premise, and it is accurate to state that we are seeing the position played at an all time great level by a few select individuals. But I believe we are over generalizing due to the media exposure of Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, and Tom Brady. In fact, I’ll argue that running the football is still the way to succeed in the NFL, especially if you don’t have one of the aforementioned signal callers.

2011 NFL MVP - Blog

Yes, I know he hasn’t played a game this year as he rehabs from neck surgery. Yes, I know that he isn’t likely to return at any point this year. Yes, I know there are plenty of great players in the league today. But let’s start with providing a concrete definition for the MVP award. The term “valuable” refers to a player who means the most to his team, whose team would be lost without him.

NFL staples Peyton Manning and Terrell Owens seem to be on their way out, so who can we count on to replace them? From a statistical perspective, we have two young guns who are more than ready to fill the pending void sooner rather than later.

A+ Rodgers - Blog

Posted by Kyle Soppe on October 12, 2011 - 7:32pm

Much has been made of Aaron Rodgers and his extreme success since he became the Packers starter in 2008, but how good is he really? Is he simply a product of a good situation in Cheesehead country (the Brett Favre argument)? Explain it however you’d like, but one thing is clear: what Aaron Rodgers is doing in 2011 is as impressive as any season we’ve ever seen.
