Hamburg, NY – The New York Sire Stakes Freshmen Trotters head west to Buffalo Raceway on Friday, July 22. Carded as races 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 10 by Race Secretary Robin Burns 45 colts and geldings will go to post in 6 divisions.
In the opening division one of the seven horses will break their maiden, as none have visited the winner’s circle. Studio City should get most of the action after his pair of 2nd place showings and drawing the rail. Local trainer Peter Arrigenna has been conditioning Leo Vincent for owner and breeder John Volkosh, including a 3rd place finish in NYSS action at Monticello, and will be hoping for some home track advantage.
The race most eyes will be on is Race 4 as Cash Value, My Man Dudley and Royal Shyster drew into the seven horse field. The RC Royalty colt Royal Shyster took a division of the Topmkins-Greer at Tioga last week while Cash Value and My Man Dudley took their divisions of NYSS at Monticello on July 2.
The Fifth race has a trio of Conway Hall geldings. Trained by Lisa Lederhouse, Barengat Lane, another divisional winner at the Mighty M, will start from post 4. Slugfest trained by Ray Schnittker will start from post two. While the Dan Daley trained Sherman drew the seven hole.
The Credit Winner colt Abudanceofcredit highlights Race 7, finishing 2nd in the Tompkins Greer for trainer-driver Sam Schillaci. Also in Race 7, the start of the Pick 3, is Imagistic with driver Stephane Bouchard who will be making his Sire Stakes debut after being scratched sick from his start in Monticello.
The Ray Schnittker trained Delano will start from post 1 in the Eighth race as part of the trainer entry. His biggest challenge should come from Sunpine who won by 6 1/4 lengths last week.
Macksmith another Schillaci trainee will duel it out with the Dan Daley trained Flyhawk Jester in the final division.
