CCBC Catonsville Drops Kats, 11-1 - Press Release

CATONSVILLE, Md. - March 22 - The Erie Community College baseball team suffered an 11-1 loss Friday afternoon to CCBC Catonsville. The Kats trailed 3-1 after six innings but saw CCBC Catonsville, a NJCAA Division II member, erupt for eight runs in the seventh inning.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - March 21 - The Erie Community College lacrosse team suffered a 19-4 loss to No. 3 Anne Arundel (Md.) CC as the Kats opened the 2013 season Thursday night.
Freshman Jackie Hill (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster) led the Kats with two goals and an assist. Sophomore Emery Fleck (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster) and freshman Amanda Patrone (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) also recorded goals.
Erie CC will play CCBC Catonsville at noon Saturday in Rochester.

EAST PEORIA, Ill. - March 21 - The Erie Community College women's basketball team's 2012-13 season came to a close Thursday morning with a 70-58 loss to Owens (Ohio) CC in the consolation round at the NJCAA Division II Tournament at the CougarPlex on the campus of Illinois Central College.
The Kats, who finish the season 21-7, were led by sophomore forward Alexis Gray (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca) as she scored 25 points.

EAST PEORIA, Ill. - Louisburg (N.C.) College used a 13-1 run early in the first half and then a 14-3 run to close the half as the Hurricanes handed the Erie Community College women's basketball team a 66-49 loss in the opening round of the NJCAA Division II National Championship Tuesday at the CougarPlex on the campus of Illinois Central College.

TAMPA, Fla. - March 15 - The Erie Community College baseball team scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to record a 7-5 win and a split of Friday's doubleheader against Waubonsee (Ill.) CC. Waubonsee CC handed the Kats a 5-2 loss in the opener.

TAMPA, Fla. - March 14 - The Erie Community College baseball split its two games Thursday, falling 9-1 to Schenectady County CC before rebounding with a 13-2 win over Ontario Prospects. The Kats, now 5-5, close their 12-game Florida trip with a doubleheader against Waubonsee (Ill.) CC Friday.

TAMPA, Fla. - March 13 - The Erie Community College baseball team suffered its third-straight loss, a 9-8 decision to the Ontario Terriers, Wednesday. The Kats allowed two runs in the top of the ninth for the loss. ECC did plate a run in its half of the ninth and had a runner in scoring position with one out but could not get the runner home.
Freshman catcher Zach Hayes (Orchard Park, N.Y./Bishop Timon-St. Jude) drove in two runs, recording a sacrifice fly in ECC's five-run third inning and adding a RBI single in the fifth.

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - March 13 - The Erie Community College baseball team received six points in today's NJCAA Division III baseball poll. The Kats, who are 4-3 this season, are among three teams in the receiving votes category. Northern Essex (Mass.) CC and Suffolk County CC are also in the receiving votes category.
The Kats are scheduled to play Ontario Terriers today in Tampa, Fla. The Kats will continue their 12-game Florida trip with games Thursday against the Schenectady County CC and the Ontario Prospects.

BUFFALO, N.Y. - March 12 - The Erie Community College women's basketball team will play Louisburg (N.C.) College March 19 at noon (Eastern). The game will be held at the CougarPlex at Illinois Central College in East Peoria, Ill.
The Kats, 21-5, won their second-straight Region III Tournament to advance to the tournament. ECC is led by sophomore forward Alexis Gray (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca East). She averages 13.9 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.1 blocked shots per game.

Iona teams eliminate Canisius in men’s and women’s basketball - Blog

 The (12-18) Canisius women’s team played their first game Thursday vs (2-28) Saint Peter’s in the MAAC tournament at Springfield, MA. They won 79-58. Canisius shot a season best 51 percent from the floor and made 11 3 pointers. When Canisius is making their 3’s at 58% and holding the opposition to 37% FG from the field and 35% from three, there is no team, not even Marist who can beat them. Guard Ashley Durham led the Griffs with 15 points and forward Jen Lenox had 10 points. With the win the Lady Griffs moved onto Fridays game vs Iona.
