TAMPA, Fla. - March 11 - The Erie Community College baseball team suffered two losses Monday on its Florida trip. The Kats scored three times in the seventh inning but fell 4-3 to Schenectady County CC and then suffered a 6-1 loss to Minnesota State Community and Technical College.
Freshman Zach Hayes (Orchard Park, N.Y./Bishop Timon-St. Jude) had a RBI double. Hayes and sophomore Vinny Sherman (North Collins, N.Y./North Collins) had two hits in the contest.
BUFFALO, N.Y. - March 11 - The Erie Community College women's basketball team has been seeded 15th at the upcoming NJCAA Division II Tournament, held March 19-23 in Peoria, Ill.
The Kats, who will be making their second-straight national tournament appearance, enter the tournament with a 21-5 record. The 21 wins are the most in the program's history since the 1982-83 season.
The tournament schedule has not yet been released.

TAMPA, Fla. - March 10 - Mike Schnurr, a freshman pitcher for the Erie Community College baseball team, allowed one hit as the Kats recorded a 2-1 victory over Mesabi Range (Minn.) CTC Sunday in the first game of a doubleheader. In the nightcap, sophomore Cody Alessi (Trinity, Fla./Eastlake) struck out 11 and allowed six hits as the Kats recorded a 4-1 win.
BALTIMORE, Md. - March 9 - Freshman Ryan Betz (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Cleveland Hill) hit a three-run home run while Victoria Mendiola (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) and Kathleen Ruggiero (Williamsville, N.Y./Sacred Heart) each recorded three hits to lift the Erie Community College softball team to a 9-4 win over CCBC Dundalk Saturday afternoon. CCBC Dundalk later recorded a 10-2 victory in the doubleheader's game two.
TAMPA, Fla. - March 9 - The Erie Community College baseball team used a run in the seventh inning to pick up an 8-7 win over Minnesota State Community and Technical College Friday night to open the 2013 season. The Kats then handed MSCTC a 12-6 loss in the nightcap. In Saturday's action, ECC fell 12-5 to Pasco Hernando CC.
Sophomore Vinny Sherman (North Collins, N.Y./North Collins) led off the inning with a double and then scored on a bunt single by sophomore Nick Galenti (Cheektowaga, N.Y./St. Mary's).
BEL AIR, Md. - March 8 - The 2013 season got off to a rough start for the Erie Community College softball team Friday as the Kats suffered two losses (13-5 and 6-3) to NJCAA Division I member Harford Community College.
Freshman Kathleen Ruggiero (Williamsville, N.Y./Sacred Heart) collected two hits in each contest to lead the Kats. Freshmen Kelsey Grosch (Depew, N.Y./Depew) and Jillian Zbytek (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Cleveland Hill) each added three hits.
BUFFALO, N.Y. - March 3 - Alexis Gray (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca East), a sophomore forward on the Erie Community College women's basketball team, was named the Region III Tournament's Most Valuable Player following Sunday's championship game which saw the Kats record a 58-49 win over Alfred State.
Gray scored a game-high 18 points and snared seven rebounds in the championship game. She recorded 21 points, 10 rebounds and four steals in ECC's 72-50 win over Jamestown CC in the semifinals.
BUFFALO, N.Y. - March 3 - Sophomore forward Alexis Gray (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca East) scored a game-high 18 points and blocked three shots to lead the Erie Community College women's basketball team to a 58-49 win over Alfred State in Sunday's Region III Tournament championship game at the Flickinger Center. ECC, now 21-5, repeats as the Region III Tournament champion, and qualifies for the upcoming NJCAA Division II National Tournament at Illinois Central College in Peoria, Ill., March 19-23.
The 21 wins for ECC are the most since the 1982-83 Kats went 21-7.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - March 3 - Devon Elliott (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) and Isaiah Jefferson (Buffalo, N.Y./Riverside), members of the Erie Community College men's basketball team, were both chosen to the All-Region III Tournament team, announced Sunday following the championship game. No. 5 Monroe CC defeated No. 14 ECC 98-89 in the championship game.
Elliott scored a total of 63 points and snared 17 rebounds in the Kats' two games while Jefferson scored 32 total points and dished seven assists.
