Two WNY natives combined as Wheatfield native Adam Clendening was selected in the second round of the 2011 NHL entry draft by Amherst native Stan Bowman as the General Manager of the Chicago Blackhawks.

Clendening's stock rose on draft day as he had been rated 45th overall among North American skaters. When goalies and Europeans are added to the mix, Clendening was likely to slip into the 3rd round or later. Instead he went 38th overall, a very respectable selection.
