Posted by bob plezia on March 28, 2011 - 11:45am

If you want the hits, hitters, score by inning, etc. you could have had it yesterday afternoon. This is the rest.
The game took 2 hrs. and 27 min., and it was hot. This was a game, at least the first 4-5 inn., with 2 top clubs playing many of their stars and starters.
Halladay threw 4 inn with his FB between 91-94 thru all 4 inn, and his change was 68, 74, 77. I think too slow but who am I to Q Halladay. Halladay gave up 4 hits, 1 run, had 4 Ks and had a wobbly 4th with 2 BB, HPB, single and a sac RBI FO by Hinske.

Posted by Bob Plezia on March 26, 2011 - 6:37pm

The Mets had 12 hits today so the hitting seems to be in good shape. Another Q was 2nd and it appears Emaus has it and its his to lose. His 2 for 3 today brought his BA to .318. Another Q was pitching. Pelfrey pitched 5 2/3 inn, gave up 2 runs. 2 DPs helped. so the defence was solid with no Es vs 5 Es for the Braves. Acosta, Brydak, brought up today, Parnell and KRod (clocked at 91) shut the Braves the rest of the way.

And the Skip was asked at post game, would you call this a break out game? At which the Skip said, after hesitating, with a kind of low voice, something like, "I think so".
I THINK SO!
This is the most runs scored in a game by the Mets this Spring, this is the most runs against the Cards this Spring, this is the worst loss by the Cards this Spring, this  is the biggest margin of victory by the Mets this Spring, 16 runs, 23 hits, etc. etc. etc.

Bisons scrimmage N.O. - Blog

Posted by Bob Plezia on March 23, 2011 - 5:25pm

The score was about even but with all the switches, you could not keep track easily, so we called it a scrimmage.
Beltran hit in each if the first 5 inn. He did the same yesterday. He ran w/o a limp and well, and his swing looked good, he hit the ball well a couple of times. He needs more BP to get the strike zone, and hit the pitch where it is.
Lutz was 3 for 4 with a triple to right ctr and 2 run HR over left field fence. His stroke looked good. Ratliff was 2 for 2 and looked good with 2 solid liners.

Mets ss beat Nationals in PSL 7-4 Yesterday, 6th straight loss for Nats. Notes. Ollie? - Blog

Posted by Bob Plezia on March 20, 2011 - 3:20pm

The Mets bats have come around more last week and they had 12 hits yesterday. Wright has been 8 for 11 after starting 0 for 13 then 1 for 17 and 2 for 22. We've learned he has been working on some minor changes to his swing so no one in the Mets org. was panicked with his start. Wright showed great patience with the diff approach while not getting any return earlier. Bay had 3 BB yesterday bringing his OBP to .393.
The hitting goal of the Mets this yr is OBP. They are working on strike zone discipline and simplifying swings.

Mets beat Braves 3-0. Game notes. Bisons starting - Blog

Posted by Bob Plezia on March 18, 2011 - 7:20pm

Mets pitching and hitting are starting to develop as they shut out the Braves today. (And some of the future Bisons played today. Maybe they were angry at being sent down this Am and took it out on the Braves.)
KRod (1 hit, no run) and Ollie (no hit no run, 1 BB) each pitched well for one inn today. Wright hit his first HR of the Spring and a single with 3 RBIs today.
