 With just over three weeks to go until the NHL’s trade deadline -- Monday, February 27 at 3 p.m. -- it’s been interesting to watch the landscape change in wake of some significant contracts being signed by defensemen who were set to become free agents: Tim Gleason (4 years, $16 million with Carolina), Alex Goligoski (4 years, $18.4 million with Dallas), Francois Beauchemin (3 years, $10.5 million with Anaheim) and John-Michael Liles (4 years, $15.5 million with Toronto).

As we approach All-star Weekend the Buffalo Sabres’ and their fans enter the break with a feeling of what could’ve been. The season began with so much promise and the expectations were through the roof. Terry Pegula did what previous ownership refused to do and actually spent money in the offseason. He brought in prized free agents in Christian Ehrhoff and Ville Leino. He also persuaded veteran defensemen Robyn Regehr to waive his no trade clause and join the Sabres. Everything was in place for a deep playoff run towards the ultimate goal of a Stanley Cup.

Forwards Steven Beyers (Barrie, OHL), Dan Catenacci (Owen Sound, OHL), Cedrick Henley (Val D’Or, QMJHL), Steven Shipley (Niagara, OHL), Kevin Sundher (Victoria, WHL) and Gregg Sutch (Barrie, OHL); defensemen Jerome Gauthier-Leduc (Rimouski, QMJHL), Alex Lepkowski (Barrie, OHL) and Mark Pysyk (Edmonton, WHL); and goaltender Nathan Lieuwen (Kootenay, WHL).

 BUFFALO, N.Y. (September 13, 2011) – The Buffalo Sabres today announced that a select number of the team’s preseason games will be broadcast on MSG and streamed live on Sabres.com, as well as Wednesday’s Traverse City Championship game between the Sabres and the New York Rangers. MSG will also carry the team’s home preseason game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sept. 24. In addition to the games being broadcast on MSG, the Sabres’ preseason home opener against the Carolina Hurricanes on Sept. 19 will be streamed live online.

 BUFFALO, NY (July 21, 2011) - Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier today announced that goaltender Jhonas Enroth has agreed to a multi-year contract.

Enroth (5'10", 166 lbs., 6/25/1988) appeared in 14 games during five separate recalls for the Sabres last season, compiling a 2.73 goals against average and a 9-2-2 record. He recorded his first NHL win and first career shutout in 2010-11 after appearing in just one game during the 2009-10 season.

 BUFFALO, NY (July 4, 2011) – Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have re-signed defenseman Mike Weber to a multi-year contract.
Weber (12/16/1987, 6’2”, 211 lbs.) played a career-high 58 games this season, and led all Sabres in hits with 158. The 23-year-old Weber also posted career highs in goals (4), assists (13) and points (17), giving him 20 points in 81 career NHL games with Buffalo. Weber played in all seven games of Buffalo’s first-round playoff series against Philadelphia, and was third on the team with 17 hits.

BUFFALO, NY (June 29, 2011) – Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have agreed to terms on a multi-year contract with forward Nathan Gerbe.

Gerbe (5’5”, 178 lbs., 7/24/1987) scored 31 points (16+15) in 64 games for the Sabres last season, including 15 goals in Buffalo’s final 40 games. The 23-year-old native of Oxford, Michigan, set a new Sabres franchise record for fastest two goals by one player when he scored two goals just five seconds apart on January 21 against the New York Islanders.

 The Buffalo Sabres have signed a purchase agreement with the Rochester Americans hockey club. The AHL Board of Governors unanimously approved the transaction earlier today. The Sabres also announced their affiliation agreement with the Portland Pirates has ended.
The Buffalo Sabres will have no further comment at this time. The Sabres expect to hold a press conference in Rochester next week to set forth their plans for the franchise.
