Hamburg, NY Boxing Results (April 22 show)

 Don Juan Fighting Promotions put on their first boxing show at the Fairgrounds Event Center in Hamburg, NY on Friday night. In the feature bout of the evening for the vacant WBC Youth title, Guillermo Sanchez of Buffalo took home an eight-round unanimous decision from Eduardo Ramirez of Laredo, TX. In the second round the southpaw Sanchez found the straight left working and dropped Ramirez for a count of five just before the bell. Sanchez was content to box over the next four rounds. In the seventh a left hand hurt Ramirez but Sanchez could not put him down. The game Ramirez and Sanchez exchanged punches until the final bell. The scores were 80-71 twice and 79-72 for Sanchez who improves to 13-2-1 while Ramirez slides to 6-7-1.
 

Buffalo’s undefeated light heavyweight Lionell Thompson improved to 6-0 with his fourth stoppage over Angel Gonzalez (2-5) of Yonkers. Thompson bullied and blooded Gonzalez in each round effectively jabbing and controlling the fight. At 2:29 of the fifth round of a scheduled six the corner of Gonzalez seen enough punishment and advised the referee to stop the contest.
 

Nick “Hands of Gold” Casal of Niagara Falls returned to the ring in spectacular fashion has he scored a third round TKO over tough Martin Tucker of Toledo. Casal caught Tucker in round one with an overhand right that dropped him just before the bell. In the third round a left-right combination floored Tucker again. A follow up flurry of punches forced the stoppage at 1:45. Casal’s record now stands at 21-4-1 with his 15th KO as Tucker drops to 7-9.
 
Heavyweight Excell Holmes (2-0-1) of Buffalo earned a hard fought unanimous decision over tough luck Taffo Asongwed of Montreal. Holmes landed enough to earn scores of 39-37 and 40-36 twice. Asongwed dropped to 0-7-6.
 
In his professional debut Jordan Gaines of Buffalo showed plenty of skill in winning a unanimous shut out four round decision over John Dippolito (0-3) of Philadelphia. Scores were 40-36 from each judge for the 22-year-old college grad.
 
Amanda Serrano of Brooklyn and Ela Nunez of Jamestown, NY went to war for the third time in their careers in a six-round women’s bout. This time the younger Serrano overwhelmed the veteran Nunez forcing a stoppage at 1:30 of the fourth round. As usual Serrano was the more precision boxer while Nunez threw nothing but power shots. Amanda improves to 9-0-1 while Ela slides to 9-9-1.
 
In the opening four round Jr. welterweight bout Jamell Tyson (1-1-1) of Rochester, NY and Bryan Abraham of Schenectady (3-6-2) put on a see-saw battle with Tyson taking a majority decision with scores of 38-38 and 39-37 twice for Tyson.
