RIT's Andrew Favot signs professional deal with the Elmira

ROCHESTER, NY - Senior forward Andrew Favot (King City, Ontario) of the RIT

men’s hockey team signed a  professional contract with  the Elmira Jackals of East Coast Hockey League on Wednesday and will be in the lineup this evening.  Favot will join former teammate and RIT standout goaltender Jared DeMichiel (Avon, CT) with the Jackals.
Favot enjoyed a tremendous season for the Tigers, helping lead the  squad to its fourth Atlantic Hockey Association regular season title in  the last five seasons, and a 19-11-8 record.  He led the squad in scoring with 43 points on 13 goals and 30 assists, while playing at a plus-13.
Favot earned 2011 All-AHA third team honors, and was named a 2011 AHA Player of the Week on Jan. 3.  He recorded seven multiple-goal games, and 14 multiple-point efforts. On March 12, he became the fifth player  since RIT moved to Division I to record his 100th career point in a 5-1 win over American International.
Last season, Favot helped RIT make its first trip to the NCAA Tournament and a berth in the Frozen Four. Favot played in 40 games and recorded 46 points on 13 goals and 33 assists. He dished out three assists and was plus-4 in RIT’s 6-2 win over New Hampshire that propelled them to the Frozen Four. The 33 assists are a single-season record at RIT in the Division I era.  Favot earned All-AHA second team honors, and was a two-time AHA Player of the Week.
As a sophomore in 2008-09, Favot broke out offensively, tallying 31 points (10-21-31) in 33 games.  He tied a RIT Division I team record with an 11-game point-scoring streak from Dec. 6 to Jan. 25.  He also recorded a team record 10-game assist streak from Dec. 6 to Jan. 25.
In 2007-08, Favot chipped in with 10 points and shared the Craig Lauzon Award with Sean Murphy (Owatonna, MN) as RIT’s top rookie.
Favot finished his Tiger career with 41 goals, and 89 assists, for 130 points in 140 games. He is second all-time at RIT in the Division I level in assists, and points, and third in goals.  Favot's 130 points are two points away from the program record, held by Simon Lambert (Ste.-Therese, Quebec/Cumberland Grads).  He has the highest plus-minus mark (plus-43) in the Division I era.  Since the start of the 2008-09 season, Favot recorded 120 points (36-84-120) in 109 games.
Favot will earn a bachelor's degree in business from RIT.
Fellow teammate Tyler Brenner (Linwood, Ontario) signed a deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League on Monday, and is currently playing with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.
