AMHERST, MA – The State University of New York, Buffalo football team ended the season in style with a dominant, 41-21, win over Massachusetts at McGuirk Stadium on Friday afternoon. The Bulls rolled up 548 yards of total offense, paced by Anthone Taylor's career-high 237 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
"It's a special win. I can't describe it. It means so much to me," interim head coach Alex Wood said. "It was fun to see our seniors go out as winners."
CORAL GABLES, FL – The State University of New York, Buffalo women's basketball team battled from a 15-point halftime deficit, but fell shy of the comeback. The Bulls (2-3) dropped an 87-77 decision to Tulsa (3-2) Friday on day one of the Miami (FL) Thanksgiving Tournament at Bank United Center. The Bulls will face Illinois State Saturday at 3 pm.
CLEVELAND, OH – The State University of New York, Buffalo men's and women's swimming teams had a strong finish to the Magnus Cup Invitational hosted by Cleveland State University on Sunday. Despite missing the first day of competition and not having any divers in the meet due to travel issues, the women's team still managed to finish third of 10 teams and the men finished third out of five teams.
Second-year head softball coach Trena Peel has announced the addition of seven players for next year's 2015-16 season that have all signed National Letters of Intent.
"I am ecstatic about this recruiting class that my staff and I were able to put together," said Peel. "We not only found talented athletes, we found great people with very supportive parents. These seven players are eager to get here and earn an opportunity to be instant game changers. I believe that they will put us in a position to compete for a championship every year."
BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team is prepped to open 2014-15 competition at the Binghamton Round Robin Dual Saturday and Sunday.
"We are very excited to get our season started," said head coach Lee Nickell. "It seems like just yesterday we had our hearts ripped out in the MAC finals. We have been training hard with a goal of erasing that memory as fast as possible.
University at Buffalo football head coach Jeff Quinn has announced his initial signees for the 2014 recruiting class on the first day of the National Signing Period. The 21-member class is Quinn's largest in his five years at Buffalo.
WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. – June 5 - Erie Community College sophomore Brian Barry (Derby, N.Y./Lake Shore) was named today to the NJCAA Division III All-America Team as a first-team selection. Barry, an outfielder/pitcher, hit .464 this past season with a school-record 71 runs batted to go with 24 doubles and 12 home runs. Barry also recorded a 6-3 record as a pitched and struck out a team-high 66 batters in 58 innings. Barry's 71 RBI, 24 doubles, and .837 slugging percentage led the NJCAA Division III.
BUFFALO, N.Y. - June 5 - Eight Erie Community College student-athletes were named recipients of NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Awards. The student-athletes needed to have completed three full-time semesters and a minimum of 45 semester credit hours and must have participated in at least one season.
BUFFALO, N.Y. – June 3 – Erie Community College sophomore Ryan Kaufman (Amherst, N.Y.) was chosen as a third-team selection to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-America® College Division men’s at-large team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Kaufman, a defenseman on the ECC hockey team, carries a 3.67 grade-point average while majoring in criminal justice.
BUFFALO, N.Y. – May 28 – The Erie Community College hockey team has announced its upcoming 2013-14 schedule. The Kats, who have qualified for the past five NJCAA Championships, also plays members of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA). ECC will announce additions to its schedule at a later date. The Kats have placed four players on the NJCAA All-America teams the past three seasons.
