Super Bowl Tuesday: The Great Media Day Ice Storm - Blog

Posted by shawnkrest on February 7, 2011 - 2:51pm

Tuesday was Super Bowl Media Day.  It was also the Great Dallas Ice Storm of 2011, or as we call it in Western New York, "Tuesday."
The city was crippled by the overnight ice, which was actually a benefit for those of us used to driving in it.  The stifling Dallas traffic  was virtually nonexistent this morning, and the parking downtown, which I was warned would be nearlyl impossible, was no trouble at all.

Congratulations to the Green Bay Packers. As an AFC guy first and foremost I was hoping that the Steelers could make it Stairway to Seven but I guess that they'll be content to remain Sixburgh as the Lombardi trophy returns home after a good game from the Pack (and an up and down from the Steelers, or rather, their quarterback).

Three events at the media center today, which were about as different as it's possible for three events to be.

Super Bowl Day 3: Welcome to Dallas! - Blog

I made it!  After 1400 miles, I arrived in Dallas this afternoon.  I'm staying in McKinney, about 30 miles north of Dallas.  The media center is at the downtown Dallas Sheraton.
Any time we need to go to the stadium (about an hour away from where i'm staying) they'll have shuttle buses from the media center.

Super Bowl Day 2: Prepare for arrival - Blog

I'm now on the Super Bowl side of the Mississippi.  I stopped for the night a little past Little Rock, Arkansas.  I could have made it to Dallas by 10 tonight if I'd kept driving, but my reservation at Lary's house isn't until tomorrow.  Also, I have to cover MMA and boxing tonight for All Headline Sports from TV and streaming online.  Road trip doesn't mean day off!

As I said in my previous blog post, I am the only guest at the Cincinnati-area hotel.  Here's a photo of the parking lot as proof!

My road trip to Dallas made it as far as Cincinnati.  I didn't get to leave until early afternoon and was hoping to make it into Kentucky so I could officially say I was in the South.  Stopped about 20 miles short, though.

Packing tonight for my trip to Big D for Super Bowl XLV.  Stay tuned to this space and follow on Twitter @shawnkrest to get updates from the Media Center all next week.
But first, you'll get updates from the heartland as I spend much of the next two days driving to Dallas.  ETA at the media center in the Dallas Sheraton sometime Sunday afternoon.  Knock on wood.
In case you care, I'm picking the Packers.  Of course, last weekend, I picked Bears and Jets, so take it for what it's worth.
