Mavs Dramatic Win From Behind

Mavs Dramatic Win From Behind

Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks evened their best of seven NBA series finals with a dramatic come from behind 95-93 win over the Miami Heat on the Heat’s home court late Thursday night. Down by 15 points with seven minutes left Nowitzki hit a dramatic three-point jumper with 26.5 seconds left, then won the game with a pretty left-handed drive and finishing layup with the game clock at 2.5 seconds. Playing with a torn tendon injured left hand taped with a splint around his hand he carried the Mav’s to the crucial game 2 victory. Again proving that this Mav’s team, this year will be different then the finals against the Heat 5 years ago Dirk displayed the ability to win a playoff single handedly. The true mark of any great NBA super star is the finals minutes of a playoff game, carrying his team, making clutch shots in crunch time heroics and rising to the occasion. With no timeouts left, the Heat got only a desperation three-point attempt from Dwyane Wade at the buzzer. The game started out with a sew saw first quarter into the second quarter with the Miami crowd at a fever intensity expecting the Heat to take a strangling 2-0 series lead. The Mav’s bolstered by an improved rebounding effort throughout the game pounded the boards and had numerous second and third shot attempts on the offensive end. Defensively the Mav’s moved better, playing team defense and using their superior bench strength to send defensive substitutions to wear down the big three of James, Wade and Bosch who again played over 40 minutes each. Now with the Mavericks returning to Dallas, the team is poised to face the Heat for three games on their home court. Winning two of the three games and going back to Miami with a 3-2 lead would still allow them to win their first NBA championship in the franchise’s history with one more victory in Miami. Sweet revenge for the team that lost the NBA championship to the Heat on their home court in 2006.
