Group play in the World Junior Hockey Championship began this week for the USA with an 11-3 defeat of Denmark. Their next opponent, on Wednesday, was a Finland team that lost its first game to Canada, 8-1. Surprisingly, the Americans were down 1-0 after two periods. But in the third they regained their momentum with a goal to tie the game. Team USA was then on the power play when goaltender, John Gibson, committed a foolish interference penalty. In the ensuing 4-on-4 situation, Joel Armia - the Sabres top 2011 draft pick, incidentally - scored a goal.
